Our Club

Rotary Club of Coimbatore Downtown is a young and vibrant Rotary Club based in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. The Rotary Club was initiated by Rotary Club of Coimbatore Midtown under the stewardship of Rtn.C.T.Thiagarajan. The club was chartered on 19 June 2012 and was inaugurated as the on 30 June 2012.

Rotary Club of Coimbatore Downtown is in resonance with the Rotary belief of "Bring Them Young". The club with 43 members has an average age of 36. Most of the Rotarians are former Rotaractors and they possess a good understanding of Rotary.

In a short span of four years the club has carved a niche for itself with its captivating camaraderie and soulful service projects. The club is abuzz with sports and fellowship which forms the heart of the club. The heartbeat of the club is its projects and the club has done commendable service activities under all avenues.

Rtn.Santosh is the Charter President of the Club and he nurtured the club, its image and growth in the year 2012-13. Rtn.Godwin was the second President of the club in 2013-14 and with every second, he ensured that the club was second to none. Rtn.P.S.Prakash lighted up Rotary in the year 2014-15 and gave the club new dimensions. Rtn.P.Vijayragahavan was the president for the year 2015-16 and he ensured that we had fabulous 4 years. Rtn.N.S.R.Naarayanan will be the 5th President, the President for Rotary year 2016-17.

Rotary Club of Coimbatore Downtown is well known for its traffic awareness and management programmes like "Helmet on Heads", "For the Followers", and "Road Safety Awareness Week" etc. The club has constructed and dedicated Library Block and Toilet Block at Pappampatti Panchayat Union School. The club has organized periodic medical camps and educational scholarships for the benefit of the downtrodden. Rotary Club of Coimbatore Downtown is renowned for its Vocational Awards titled "GURUVANDANAM" and "iRISE". The Vocational Training Centre of the Club at M/s Godwin Constructions trains civil engineering students on building plan comprehension. With two Rotaract Clubs at KV Institute of Management Studies and Sankara College of Science and Commerce respectively and one Interact Club at St Francis School, the club is committed to serving the youth. One of the highlights of Rotary Coimbatore Downtown is our friendship which reflects in the success of our Rotary Downtown League, Bachelor Trips, Family get Togethers etc.
